UCLA's RFID Lab @ WINMEC presents a one day hands-on workshop on RFID application development. This hands-on workshop provides the attendees an opportunity to learn the basics and the potential of RFID in various application scenarios. Attendees will experience a variety of RFID technologies and use the WinRFID middleware in conjunction with the existing RFID hardware in UCLA .

In the year 2005, RFID is being applied to a variety of applications including supply chain, logistics, warehousing, security, brand protection, asset management, shipping, etc. These applications are finding their way into a variety of industries including retail, aerospace, automotive, airport management, pharmaceutical, medical/healthcare, etc. Major organizations have been carrying out trials over the last couple of years and have gained experiences including Walmart, Target, DoD, TESCO, IBM, HP, Albertsons, Fedex, UPS, etc. UCLA-WINMEC is hosting a forum to discuss where this industry is today with respect to actual usage, the successes failures, standards, how RFID projects are justified, how RFID is actually being implemented, deployment issues. In particular, we will discuss the interplay technologies, engineering practices and business processes, and how enterprises are choosing to adopt RFID.
